Nice recap! Since it's based on reader votes, I kinda doubt Emily Henry will stop winning unless she purposefully withdraws her future books from consideration. Got me thinking about how Rick Riordan did that a few years back because he kept winning the middle grade category every year that he had a book come out and it was preventing other authors from having any chance at winning.

Hey Ashtyn!

I'm not suggesting that Henry withdraws her future books from consideration (plus I don't even think she could do that even if she wanted to). The most likely scenario I could see her not winning is if she simply doesn't have a new book come out during an award year.

It can be done because it has been done, but I’m sure the author themselves doesn’t get to make the final call on that—they can just suggest it to their team. I would guess it probably comes down to the publisher’s PR team? But agreed that it won’t happen this early in EH’s career if it ever happens at all—I think RR had already won the award 10+ times by the time he withdrew and his career is so stratospheric that he doesn’t need the attention from awards anyway. It’s much more likely that Emily Henry will just have some off years from publishing, like you said.

Lovely posts! I didn’t know Emily has won the romance category for 4 years already! Congrats! But I agree, there are more authors who should be recognised by this title! Happy reading♥️📖
