Welcome back to Do Good With Books as I go over my last TBR for 2024.
As I mentioned in my December TBR post (which if you haven’t checked out, please do so), I’m splitting my TBR posts into two parts because I wanted to take time to dive into a major reading challenge I’m doing this month.
But before I get to the books I’m planning on reading for this readathon, let me go over real quick what this challenge is about.
What is the Queer Lit Readathon?
The Queer Lit Readathon is a biannual readathon created by Kathy Trithardt and Rogan Shannon, with a rotating ensemble of guest hosts for each round of the readathon. The main objective of the readathon is to read as many books featuring LGBTQIA+ characters and/or written by LGBTQIA+ authors within the timespan of the readathon. Round 14 will be happening through December 15th to December 21st and they have a Storygraph Reading Challenge page available if you’re able to track books that way.
Technically, the readathon is a week-long, but I’m sort of taking some creative liberty with this and using the month as my time frame to complete these books due to some IRL responsibilities I have to deal with this month. However, I will try my absolute best to complete most of the books in the given week for this readathon.
My TBR for the Queer Lit Readathon Round 14

Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Disability Rep; Community; High Hype/No Hype
For those of you who have been subscribing to me for a while, you might have remembered me talking about this book in my October 2024 TBR post. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to finish it since I maxed out on library renewals. But I’m going to pick this up again for the readathon since I was enjoying the book and I feel like it has a lot of relevance in light of recent events.
The In-Between Bookstore by Edward Underhill
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Travel; Magic; Past, Present, or Future
Somehow during my NetGalley request spree last month after the election results1, I was able to snag an ARC for one of my favorite author’s adult debut novel (thanks to NetGalley and Avon). This book actually works pretty well for several of the prompts on here and it felt like a no-brainer to add this book to my TBR for Round 14 of the Queer Lit Readathon.
Lakelore by Anna-Marie McLemore
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Travel; Choose Your Own Prompt (Latine); Magic
Part back-up for the Travel and Magic prompts in case I can’t finish The In-Between Bookstore, part because I’m really interested in the plot concept and it has neurodivergent rep. I don’t know a whole lot about this book, but I’m excited to try it out this month. Plus, I’m going to be using the Choose Your Own Prompt for this book and will be making it Latine since the book is about Latine MCs and written by a Latine author.
Rabbit Chase by Elizabeth LaPensée
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Genderbent Retelling; Graphic
Genderbent Retelling kind of stumped me a bit when I saw it was one of the prompts, but I think this book might be able to do the trick in order to fulfill the prompt since it’s an Indigenous reimagining of Alice in Wonderland featuring a non-binary MC. Hopefully, my library hold on this book from Queer Liberation Library will come in time so I can read it.
I’ll Have What He’s Having by Adib Khorram
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Food; Disaster Queers
Also not knowing what to pick for Food and Disaster Queers, I was able to come up with this title to fulfill the prompts. One of the books currently sitting on my NetGalley shelf (thanks to NetGalley and Forever), this book is about a man with no idea what to do with his life unexpectedly taking over his family bistro and the hijinks that ensue.
Most Wonderful by Georgia Clark
Prompt(s) Fulfilled: Gifted; Winter Holiday
This book wasn’t initially on my radar, but my mom thought it would be cute to buddy read a book for the holiday season and this was one of the few holiday-themed books they had on display at this indie bookstore we were in on the way home from a family vacation. And when I read over the prompt list when it became available, I instantly thought this would be the perfect book to fulfill two of the prompts.
Book Recs Based Off the Prompts
If this sounds like a readathon that you want to be part of, I encourage you to sign up and participate! It’s definitely a fun challenge where you get to read more from LGBTQIA+ authors as well as step outside your comfort zone by reading genres you may not have read much of.
Though, if you’re looking for some other book recs besides my TBR listed above to get started on this readathon, check out my list of book recs for each of the prompts down below.
